Job quota in firms may be enforced?

So says a news report. Interesting times... things are really coming to a head.

I wonder what the rules would be and how they would be enforced - especially if candidates with the right skillsets cannot be found.

The interesting thing is that even without a quota, finding (and retaining) the right guys is almost impossible. With everyone having the same assembly-line certifications and qualifications, it has become that much tricky to detect the "intangible" quality that would help the firm grow. Imagine if the pool size was reduced!!

Project teams nowadays have a tendency to be filled with people from the same region/language as the project lead. Conference calls turn into a cacophony of vernacular discussion.

I have nothing against patriotism and language pride. But gee! how are we supposed to 'contribute' if we don't communicate?

With nationalist pride degenerating into regional pride then into locality pride, wonder how long before the Filipinos and Romanians steal the thunder from under our upturned noses...
